JO-ANNE: Almost two years ago, I came up with the idea of APPY OUR PUBLISHING. Gosh, back then, folks didn’t know what an app was…and many were just purchasing their first cell phone.

At that time, it was difficult for me to find any information about apps…and so I started to educate the public by writing articles about the marketing future (apps) for authors and the importance of climbing on board by having ‘your own app’.

ANNE: How does it work? And how does it compare to working with Smashwords? Or the iBookstore? Or a publisher?
JO-ANNE: Simply, the apps we design and publish are like a central hub available to be downloaded from the Google Play App Store. Inside the app, the client can have whatever he/she wishes to highlight. It’s like a business card, except with even more information AND world-wide distribution…MAJOR EXPOSURE!

You don’t want to have viewers (potential purchasers) having to click too many times OR having to spend too much time searching OR have your images all skewed and having them scroll sideways for them to read the information.

The apps, at Appy Our Publishing, are VISUALLY APPEALING, in whatever screen dimensions the viewer is looking from. Like a purse or wallet, an app presents EVERYTHING about the author all in one place. CONVENIENT.

- So the reader either installs, the free Author App (to follow the author) and/or purchases the Book App, into their device. The reader’s device automatically converts it to their screen dimensions. ALSO, as the author makes site changes (from their computer) or updates their social media (ie: Facebook), the app automatically updates. Too cool!
- TODAY, an app developed and published from Appy Our Publishing allows the reader to take their favorite authors with them…AND ALSO, purchase and read their books from their device.
ANNE: Seems to me this would be a great help for many writers who don’t have a lot of technical background.
JO-ANNE: Yes, that’s what I thought. Heck, even with all my technical background…this has been my biggest challenge yet. Designing a website seems like morsels compared to this big feast…lol.
